In the dishwasher filter area, it is common for there to be a small amount of standing water. Upon removing your dishwasher filter for daily cleaning, you can find this water.
The water is there to prevent the seals from drying up in that area. When you start the next cycle, this small amount of water is drained and replaced with fresh water.

Standing water can be caused by an incomplete cleaning cycle or a kinked or obstructed drain hose at the bottom of a KitchenAid dishwasher.
Kitchenaid dishwasher won’t start
Using the following form, the KitchenAid dishwasher can be restored without draining water:
- Close the door of the dishwasher and press the button for “Start/Resume.”
- Switch off the electrical supply from your circuit breaker box to the KitchenAid dishwasher. Locate and flip the circuit breaker switch corresponding to the dishwasher to the off spot.
- Underneath the dishwasher door, take off the bottom toe panel to reach the drain hose. Remove the two screws that connect the dishwasher to the panel.
- Locate the drain hose for the dishwasher, which is a rubber hose about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. For kinks or turns, inspect the hose.
- To catch any water that might spill out, put a pan under the drain hose.
- Disconnect the dishwasher pump drain tube. Squeeze with pliers the wire clamp at the pump end of the hose. To get it out of the way, slip the clamp down the length of the hose.
- Take the drain hose away from the dishwasher pump. To detach it from the drain, pinch the wire clamp at the other end.
- To remove any obstructions, hold one end of the hose to your faucet and run hot water through it.
- Reverse the disassembly method to re-attach the drain hose to both ends.
- Give your KitchenAid dishwasher power back. Flip the corresponding switch of the circuit breaker to place it on.
- On the control console on the dishwasher door, press the Cancel/Drain button.
Drained settled water
There are other ways of avoiding drained, settled water left in the dishwasher. It is important to look and check if any food has been left out.
The particles can get stuck in the drain. Furthermore, by running the disposer, the obstruction will get clear.
